Climbing was the first activity Kathryn became involved with, circa 1988 on Southern Sandstone near Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
I became quickly hooked on the climbing scene and camaraderie. I qualified for my first coaching qualification, the Southern Sandstone Leaders Award, which focusses on climbing with regard to and respect for the geology of that area, so that I could share my passion with others.
Much of my work in those days was with school groups as well as with participants brought to the rocks by Special Sport, a charity which enabled adults with special needs to participate in a range of sports.
I now also hold the Mountain Training Rock Climbing Instructor qualification.
This qualification allows me to supervising safe climbing and abseiling sessions on single pitch crags and artificial structures throughout the UK.
I have climbed in many areas and love long sea-cliff climbs as well as Fontainbleau bouldering days. Having moved to Devon and being close to Cornwall I am now enjoying classic sea-cliff climbs.
I work as a freelance instructor for centres and companies and also offer bespoke climbing sessions for individuals and groups.
